Via FOX 34 News — Today we’d like to introduce you to Shola Salako.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

Thank you for having me! My name is Shola Salako and I live in Detroit, Michigan. I am a proud Nigerian American born to Nigerian parents in Buffalo, New York. I spent my formative years in Nigeria when my family moved there and it has afforded me the wonderful opportunity to learn about my African roots, the Yoruba language and culture. I was also very fortunate to build lifelong friendships during my experience in boarding school in Nigeria. I returned to the United States for college after high school and pursued an education and career in Information Technology. I am a technology entrepreneur with over 20 years’ experience building innovative software solutions and technology architecture. My purpose is being a bridge between African peoples all over the world, uniting them with opportunities and connections, through my latest venture, BomaLink.com.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

You are absolutely right: my success has not come very easy. I had to maintain a very strong focus, will-power and determination to achieve my business goals and objectives. Growing up in a rather challenging boarding school in the middle of nowhere in Nigeria taught me how to survive and rely on myself; however, learning to leverage partnerships and the wisdom of others taught me how to thrive. Building relationships with various people and partners has been an interesting journey which has benefited me tremendously. We cannot do it all by ourselves; it is important we align ourselves with like-minded individuals with a common, legacy-making objective. An African proverb says, “if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

As a technology entrepreneur and software development executive, I specialize in using technology to help individuals and businesses to become more efficient, more productive, and as profitable as possible. With BomaLink.com, my specialty and expertise has really been put to great use. We have implemented a robust professional networking platform to help people of African descent around the world connect with one another and to great opportunities. We can also help any business looking for human resources and custom software solutions. BomaLink is currently executing a number of software development projects for various businesses in multiple industries. We are considerably more effective than the competition because of the breath of our access to skilled professionals and our competitive pricing.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

I would advise readers to never give up on their dreams. If you can see your dream clearly in your mind, you can hold it in your hands. Believe in yourself and never doubt yourself. Challenges will always come but they are there to test your resolve and make you stronger. Success is yours if you truly desire it. Never settle for less than you deserve. Also, I would strongly advise readers to associate with the right people that could help them towards their goals. Ask for mentorship and help. Gaining the right education and knowledge in order to build the right level of skills and expertise required to achieve your objectives are very important. And finally, I would encourage you to take moments to celebrate your wins, no matter how little. Reward yourself with a nice dinner at a nice restaurant. Take a vacation trip with your loved ones. Celebrate yourself. Celebrate your life. Celebrate your success.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

To me, success is the progressive realization of worthy ideal. There really isn’t an end destination to success; rather, it is something you achieve every day. Success involves moving closer to your goals or worth ideal by taking decisive action steps every day. Success is about taking the actions that you have intended to take every day. And when you get to your objective, you will see more. My success routine involves making a list of six tasks that I must complete the next day. I make this list each night before going to bed. Taking this further, you can engage a witness or an accountability partner to help make sure you are doing what you promised to do. I have been very fortunate to have great, like-minded accountability partners throughout the course of my professional career.

What’s next for you?

My goal in 2021 is to help 1 million people connect with opportunities. I am heavily focused on helping people find the careers and opportunities that they are looking for while fostering great collaboration and unity. I want to help corporations, organizations and governments around the world find the skilled resources that they need to make their organizations as productive as possible. BomaLink will help usher in the fourth industrial revolution of Africa and become the world’s outsourcing destination for African talent. Within 10 years, BomaLink will be a billion dollar enterprise.

Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more.

You can definitely find me on BomaLink.com or on other social media platforms including Instagram (@sholasala), Facebook (@1shola) and Twitter (@sholasal).
